TOPIC: MKV file won't play on Openelec Xtreamer Ultra

MKV file won't play on Openelec Xtreamer Ultra 1 year 3 days ago #1

Hi

I recently ripped a copy of Open Range to ISO and MKV formats. On my Xtreamer Ultra running the oficial 1.02 release the MKV file breaks up terribly. The ISO plays perfectly. I have updated to an Eden pre release and still have the same problem. The MKV file plays perfectly on my PC running windows EDEN XBMC.

Any advice is appreciated. I have atatche the medie info file for the movie.

Andy

Hi.

Text Media info file atached. After further investigation I have discovered that the VPDAU hardware acceleration is causing the issue. Turn it off and the file plays fine, although this is not a solution as without VPDAU turned on Blu-Ray rips stutter.

I have expirienced this isuue with a few rips now and suspect Make MKV may also be partially reponsible as the affected files all either loose their chapter stops or have them reduced to 1 or 2. Normally Make MKV leaves all chapter stops intacked.

Again any advice would be appreciated..

Andy

If the ISO plays okay then the problem is probably with the way that MAKEMKV has muxed the streams.

Sometimes (actually a lot of the time) it screws up.

For starters it is marked as interlaced, and I am certain your movie is not actually interlaced (very few theatrical movies on DVD are)

Try making sure that deinterlacing is OFF in XBMC for this movie. If it is set to AUTO then maybe it comes on, and as far as I remember interlacing doesnt work good with VDPAU
