Argh. My old ION-based system was throwing up on some Blu Ray mkvs I had, so I figured it was time to upgrade. Got a barebones AD04, added 4GB of memory and installed beta 2 on a USB stick.

I got sound working (and the problematic mkvs look good), BUT:

1) The remote that came with the Zotac doesn't work. Press a key and I get infinite repeats of that key until I unplug the IR receiver.

2) widescreen (16x9) movies don't look right. All have large black bars at the top and bottom, so the only way something can be "Full Screen" is if I set View Mode to Stretch 16:9, which makes the resulting movie look vertically stretched. If the TV is in 1080 and I have a 1080 movie, setting zoom to original size makes the movie look like it's about 1/2 the size of the screen. Putting OE into 720 looks the same, so there's certainly something up with the Fusion driver.

For cross checking I tried to install OE 1, but got a "AMD unsupported" overlay in the bottom right hand of the screen and the system shut down about 5 minutes in.

Bump. Same problems If I installed XBMCbuntu, so maybe the problem is there. Still would like to get it working with OpenELEC.

Ive got a Zotac AD04 coming and im trying to work out the best xbmc to install myself.
On the official forum I got mostly Windows 7 version but also OpenElec was mentioned by one user. I would much prefer to use a standalone version like OpenElec and will try it first and let you know my experiences when the unit arrives (could be tommorow or the next day).

I take it you are still stuck or did you work things out?

I have an Zbox Nano AD10 an must disable the internal IR in BIOS when I want to use the externel IR Receiver. This could be the reason for your problem...

Well I'm an idiot. The aspect ratio appears off because that's the aspect ratio of the originals. Maybe I need a wider TV :)

Still having problems with the IR receiver. Probably a configuration change that needs to be made but I'm not sure yet.

Makes sense, 16:9 aint that common for movies anymore. Did you try disabling in bios, as suggested?
