You can find the new release of OpenELEC 3.0.1 on the downloads page

OpenELEC 3.0 is recommended for new installations, and as an upgrade to existing OpenELEC 2.0 installs. However, please note that OpenELEC 2.0 will not automatically update to 3.0. This is a deliberate move as we have observed a small number of issues with Frodo updating Eden databases; we want the timing of an upgrade to be something you choose (i.e. after you made a backup of your Eden configuration). Please ugrade to OpenELEC 3.0 using the manual update process:
http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Updating_to_OpenELEC_3.0

BOOTNOTE:

OpenELEC 3.0 will be the penultimate release for ION 32-bit and Intel 32-bit users. Support for these images will cease with the OpenELEC 3.2 or 4.0 release. If you are currently using one of these builds the correct migration path is:

  • ION i386 (with 32-bit capable hardware) => Generic i386
  • ION i386 (with 64-bit capable hardware) => ION x86_64
  • Intel i386 (with 32-bit capable hardware) => Generic i386
  • Intel i386 (with 64-bit capable hardware) => Intel x86_64

Further reminders will be issued with the 3.1 release. If you have any questions, please ask in the forums.

Surely a release marked as 'stable' should not be using pre-12.2 Frodo ?

XBMC 12.2-PRE is a prerelease for 12.2, which is a bugfix release for 12.1 which is a bugfix release to 12.0. there are no new functions to 12.0 and 12.1 - only fixes. it dont matter if we checkout 12.2-PRE or patch 12.1 with many fixes (which are included in 12.2-PRE).
We work very close together with the XBMC devs to include and backport bugfixes to XBMC Frodo - with 12.2-PRE we save over 40 standalone patches for 12.1.

I do see real improvement, my G620 is now able to play flawlessly films with ~40-40Mbit without any stutter, it was not the case since a few versions.

I want to ask something. Since version 3 I have sound pitch issue on videos. Example if I fast forward YouTube videos on the beginning sound pitch gets high then few seconds later gets correct pitch. Anyone seeing this?

Hi all.

Since 3.0 official my Logitech Harmony remote does not start with OpenELEC.
It sits there for around 5mins and then it works fine.

But its almost like it doesn't load up the USB IR Receiver until like 5mins have passed.

Is anyone else seeing this?

The AMD chipsets don't support DTS-HD or Tru-HD - it's missing from their Linux drivers. Until AMD add this functionality to their Linux drivers, you'll need to use XBMC on Windows if you want HD Audio from an AMD graphics chipset.
