The OpenELEC team is proud to release OpenELEC 3.0.5

This is a maintenance release with fixes for bugs introduced in OpenELEC 3.0.4. You must upgrade from any previous 2.9x.x or 3.x release to 3.0.5.

Changelog:

  • fix XBMC crashes introduced by a issue in curl
  • start Avahi on boot and install missed Avahi binarys, this should fix a airplay issue too
  • install libbluetooth.so, this fixes not working PS3 remote and Wiimote addons

For a full changelog on what's new, follow the link below:
https://github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/compare/3.0.4...3.0.5

You can find the new release of OpenELEC 3.0.5 on the downloads page

OpenELEC 3.0 is recommended for new installations, and as an upgrade to existing OpenELEC 2.0 installs. However, please note that OpenELEC 2.0 will not automatically update to 3.0. This is a deliberate move as we have observed a small number of issues with Frodo updating Eden databases; we want the timing of an upgrade to be something you choose (i.e. after you made a backup of your Eden configuration). Please ugrade to OpenELEC 3.0 using the manual update process:
http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Updating_to_OpenELEC_3.0

BOOTNOTE:

OpenELEC 3.0 will be the penultimate release for ION 32-bit and Intel 32-bit users. Support for these images will cease with the OpenELEC 3.2 or 4.0 release. If you are currently using one of these builds the correct migration path is:

  • ION i386 (with 32-bit capable hardware) => Generic i386
  • ION i386 (with 64-bit capable hardware) => ION x86_64
  • Intel i386 (with 32-bit capable hardware) => Generic i386
  • Intel i386 (with 64-bit capable hardware) => Intel x86_64

Further reminders will be issued with the 3.1 release. If you have any questions, please ask in the forums.

I would like to mention that none of my releases has done an auto upgrade to 3.0.4 or this one. I am on 3.0.3 on all my Players,,,
...if you pause to think, do you start again?

we enable this some hours after the release to find out if we included some issues, this was the case for 3.0.4, so 3.0.4 was never enabled for autoupdating. If 3.0.5 works well and we get positive reports we will enable this tomorrow for autoupdating.

Well, there is (at least) one NEW bug. My second HDD doesn't get detected after upgrade. How do I fix that or roll back to previous version?

All my settings vanished, and X kept restarting. Finally it booted but with loads of errors, including one to do with resolv.conf - rolled back to 3.0.4 as none its bugs affected me, and waiting on a more stable manual upgrade.

X keeps hard crashing for me too. Reboots to the Frodo logo over and over. I got it to stop by pulling the Ethernet cable and disabling the PVR. Seems to be something going on with the PVR database as everytime I try to reset it the same thing happens.

I've tried moving the userdata folder (to let it create a new empty one) and it does the same thing, so seems to be something with this release. Still looking into it...will let you guys know if I run across something.

FYI, nothing makes it into the log when this happens other than "Resetting PVR Database"...then hard crash and xbmc reboots.

I've been doing auto upgrades since before 3.0, everything looks to have upgraded just fine when going to 3.0.5 B)

Now I do have PVR enabled, but i haven't actually done anything with it yet / gotten it working / imported channels / epg. So I'm not sure if it helps, but the auto upgrade seems fine with a clean PVR setup.

I'm on auto update and after the update to 3.0.5 my Openelec Generic build won't boot anymore (not 100% if it caused by the update, but it seems likely).

Any idea how I can get my hands on a generic 3.0.4 build so I can test?
