TOPIC: [Release] OpenELEC 6.0.1

The OpenELEC 6.0.1 release has been published. Users running OpenELEC 5.95.1 thru 6.0.0 with auto-update enabled will be prompted on-screen to reboot and apply the update once it has been downloaded. Users running older OpenELEC releases or with auto-update disabled will need to manually update. If you would like to update from an older OpenELEC release please read update instructions/advice on the wiki before updating. Manual update files can be obtained from the downloads page.

OpenELEC 6.0.1 is a maintenance release so there are no new features. The main fixes are:

  • libCEC has been bumped to 3.0.1 to solve some outstanding issues for RPi/RPi2 users.
  • Firmware to support the Cubox-i4pro Bluetooth chipset has been added.
  • SSL issues seen with some HTTPS streams are resolved with an update to embedded CA certificates.
  • Firmware for Intel wifi devices has been updated to resolve (or at least improve) some networking issues.
  • Kodi Isengard DVB add-ons have been updated and pushed to the official repo.
  • Boot partition size for new installations has been increased to 512MB.

To view a complete list of GitHub changes since 6.0.0 click here: https://github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/compare/6.0.0...openelec-6.0

Official add-ons (e.g. VDR and its many sub-components) and Unofficial add-ons have also received some attentions. The repos were needing some TLC but now contain current (or newer) versions of most add-ons.

Greetings,

I just wanted to express my thanks to everyone involved in the development, testing and support of this amazing project.

The inclusion of libCEC 3.0.1 has addressed the issues I was experiencing with my Samsung TV Remote (Anynet+) using OpenELEC on the RPi2.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello.
Thanks for all your hard work. I've noticed something a bit odd with the way OE handles this update. When I first boot up my system(s) it will prompt me that an update for OE is available. The machine then does a soft reboot of Kodi ( does not do a full system reboot) This happens indefinitely. This has happened on both of my machines this week. With the first machine I was fast enough to get into the addons menu and disable auto updates. Once I did that the reboots stopped. Ive never had auto on before, but decided to try it since a few of my addons work best with the latest releases. So is this the normal auto update procedure? Should I just let OE do its thing? Thanks !

My fresh 6.0.1 install has only english laguage support.
How can I get my German interface back?

Kodi devs shifted a lot of previously included things to the repo in Isengard to de-bloat the core app and language files are part of that change. You can install German from the Kodi repo.

Thanks a lot for the Great work on OE!

There should be 6.0.2 version of the VDR addon regarding git hub commits but 6.0.1 is still the latest one...

Did I miss something?

@QBJack: I need to finish running a rebuild against official repo items then push to the repo. I've been travelling with work so it's been delayed.

Great work, but ANALOG output does not fully work
I'm currently using the image mentioned in openelec.tv/forum/146-wetek-play/78362-cvbs-output thread
ulozto.net/xe5i15Ar/openelec-wetek-play-arm-6-0-devel-20151222130926-r21630-gba32c43-tar
openelec.tv/forum/146-wetek-play/78362-cvbs-output

I downloaded the 6.0.1 image from above, by putting the tar file in the update directory.

After two reboots, the update was applied.
With SSH I changed the output:
echo "576cvbs" > /sys/class/display/mode

The screen appeared on TV, but I can only see the left up quater of the Kodi-Picture on my complite TV screen!?

Wich command in SSH to change this ?
The command
cat /sys/class/video/device_resolution
outputs: 720x576
It worked fine with the first image, but not with the 6.0.1 image.

What does increasing the boot partition to 512mb do? I'm using the RPi2. Should I do a fresh install?

Hi everyone and thanks for the update.

This time during the automatic update I get the message 'check size failed'.

Then I downloaded the update file from here and copied the .tar file to the updates folder in OpenELEC on my box. But I got the same message.

I use OpenELEC 6.0.0 on my Xtreamer Ultra and never have seen this message before.

Any information on how to update my box?

Thanks and best regards,
Michael

Update: Reinstalled OpenELEC 6.0.1 and restored my backup. Now everything is up-to-date and working!

I did a fresh install of the OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-6.0.1 image on an UEFI system and ended up with a 242 MB FAT16 System partition. According to the release note, this should have been 512 MB?
