My /flash partition was too small for 7.0, so I used GParted to change partition sizes and avoid re-installing everything.
I reduced the /storage partition, and increased the /flash partition by the same amount.
I used a bootable version of GPparted on a USB.
Instructions are here - www.pendrivelinux.com/install-gparted-on-usb-flash-drive-using-windows/
To change partition sizes, I found this helpful:

I'm having issues with OE7 on CuBox-i4Pro using the files provided on openelec.tv/get-openelec/category/58-freescale-imx6-builds.
Since there are no md5 checksum files I can't know for sure the files are ok.
Manual update to 7.0 results in Kernel Panic.
Complete reinstall using 7.0 diskimage results in Kernel Panic.

can you post a picture/screenshot? afaik there are no changes between 6.95.3 and 7.0.0 which are kernel related...

I did a fresh ignition install of the previous stable version and manually upgraded. Had the same problem with an automatic upgrade from the latest beta (on 2 Cuboxes), as well as a direct flash of the .IMG file to the SD card. I tried to attach an image, but I keep getting "file too large" errors, despite scaling it down to 435k.

Managed to resize my partition with Gpartex and install the update.

Thanks for the help.

Is there any way to make this type of change clearer or even build in a resize step?

Same for me, it took a while to resize and move a ~900GB partition but gParted did the job with no issue. Then the update worked flawlessly.

Hi,

will there be any upgrade instructions provided for upgrading OpenELEC 6.0 -> 7.0?
Namely on this Wiki page
wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Updating_OpenELEC

For example, if it is required to resize partitions then perhaps some simple commands to help people, based on what tools are included with OpenELEC?

Thx

Hello,

while creating the filesystems the Installer uses the comand:

"mke2fs -t ext4"

but the used busyboxversion 1.26.0 (24.12.2016)

does NOT support "-t" option.

So the creation of the partition failed and the installer stops. (87 % or 85%)

Regards,
Tom

I would think that the upgrade process from one full version to another will remain as it's always been

Glad to see OpenELEC is still alive and kicking. I started out on OpenELEC, and, as a result, I'm quite fond of it. :D.

Nice way to end the year.

Happy New Year everyone!

Since I updated to 7 from 6.0.3 I'm not able to run the Openelec Configuration script anymore, both from the shortcut under the System section and from the Programs list. What shall I check to fix it?

So if I put the 7.0 ZIP file under /storage/.update/

like I did for 5.0 -> 6.0 then this will cater for all necessary resizing of partitions ???? or will it not actually do that part?

I have to try this because I got the same message as anyone here with cuboxtv.
