If you are going to update from one of our older releases, we STRONGLY advise that you make a backup of your XBMC data and do a manual update. Testing and Reporting

There has been many months of development and testing in the run-up to this releases, but like any major update there are a lot of changes. Unfortunately, we are unable to test every scenario on all hardware, so it’s possible you might pick up on an issue we may have missed (this is why we do beta tests). We would like anyone brave enough to test this release and report issues that they find either with OpenELEC or Kodi.

Thank You!

We would like to thank our users, team members and partners for testing, reporting and fixing issues, creating how-to documents, developing new features, and their donations of hardware and funds to the project. We appreciate your continued support, without it we would not be able to continue.

Ou,

Lirc removed? I use Lirc + TSOP4038 on all Rpi's, connected to the Non-CEC TV (or where CEC doesnt work 100%). Thats bad news for me :(

Related to MariaDB, I thought that Kodi developers say that MariaDB isnt mature enough and has some troubles with MySQL querries (act differently on some versions, ie. not the same behauviour on all versions of MariaDB) - forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=260568 etc. Was this resolved already?
RPi2 B + Panasonic TV, LE 7.0.3
RPi2 B + Samsung TV, LE 7.0.3
RPi2 B + LG TV, LE 7.0.3
RPi2 B + Older Panasonic TV, LE 7.0.1
MySQL from LAMP plugin as Library DB

When trying to access my files, a large box pops up asking for network login information. My wired network has NO login or password and never did. Everything worked perfectly for the last couple years, so I don't understand what's going on.

I spent a couple hours trying to fix the problem and OpenElec froze-up a few times when trying to connect to my network. I gave up and went back to 7.01 and everything works perfectly again.

I have a 3rd generation i5 Intel NUC accessing Samba shares via gigabit wired network from a Windows 10 Desktop

Network boot removed?

Looks like that's the last straw for OpenElec. Need to find something else.

Manually updated a raspberrypi2 from openelec 7.0.1 to 8.0.0 without any issues. Great job!

The samba name was appearing as %H when browsing the workgroup from other machines. Changed the "netbios name" in samba.conf from %H to the contents of /etc/hostname as a workaround. This workaround wasn't required with openelec 7.0.1.

Also, accessing any of the samba shares such as "Backup", "ConfigFiles", "UserData" now prompts for a password but anonymous access works with no password. No such password prompt appeared in openelec 7.0.1. This may be what blueribb is reporting above.
Last Edit: 5 months 1 week ago by yoyoma2. Reason: Added minor samba password issue.

How does one select "anonymous access" ?

I formatted the SD card and tried to install the disc images 8.0.0 and then my old 7.0.1 - and nothing happens. The Rasberry Pi doesn't even send a HDMI signal to my TV.
Did the update crashed my Pi? Can I reset it somehow?
Please help!
