Ok so installed mupen64plus and downloaded Zelda.
It works!! So awesome.

But I have no sound at all.

I am using Frodo, has anyone else encountered this?

Also just tried Star Wars racer and the screen is horribly off. So I cant even see the bottom 1/3rd.
Also no sound there.

And lastly, no exit from remote. Caused me to have to go unplug my desktop keyboard.
Can it make like stop or some other function to kick it out the game?

So update.
Downloaded PSX and downloaded Star Wars - Jedi Battles.
No sound on PSX either, and my xbox 360 (wired) controller doesnt work at all.

You need to setup your asound.conf before you will get audio on certain boxes..
Your controller works, its just not configured, folow the guide to add pango modules to your system and you will be able to run any of the emulators without a rom and they will start their gui for you to config controllers and such.

Btw using frodo should not have any effect on these emulators, they dont care about xbmc they are just launched from it...

Thanks Danny,
Installing Pango now will let you know how I get on.

Do I have to use a asound.conf as my OpenELEC box is setup nicely with working sound.
Is there no way the emulators could use the XBMC sound settings instead?

(also have no idea how to create a working asound.conf)

So installed Pango.
Got into the PSX gui, but I have to use the keyboard to move.
There is also no place to configure controller?!

Tried pcsxr and it works kinda ok too.
But still better controller support, but still cannot select.
At least I can move up and down with it.

psx needs joydev its not included in openelec atm, but should be included in the next version. Or in any current dev build.

All these emulators are setted up by me for use with the sixaxis controller by default, since thats what i've got, if you wana save yourself a lot of trouble get a sixaxis/ds3...

So if you can only go up and down thats most likely because its not setted up for xbox controller but for sixaxis so some buttons might not work if you do not configure it first.

I have a PS3 wireless controller.
Can I plug in the USB cable and use this?

Yes, you can also use it over bluetooth.
I think you should use 5 minutes to read the entire first thread, lots of good info there.

I would be interested in using one of those little logitech unified usb BT things.
Or Belkin make a nice little one.

But right now I just want to see if it works and is feesable.

Really why dont you do as XE said, and put it on Github, you can still control what happens there.
Even if its never merged into OE itself, you will get a lot of people willing to help out.

And you can keep your repo so that its all kept up to date for the user.

Have you used Github before, or know how it works properly? As it could be a great tool for this project.

What would be the idea of that, this can't be compiled within openelec's build system as a normal addon, read page 2 last few posts...

Help out doing what ? Its binary, only thing you can change is config files and launch scripts.

Hi. Sorry to jump in, but I'm having a little trouble getting mednafen to work.

When I first loaded it, the image was stretched to fullscreen, but there was no audio. So, I was reading through this thread and others, and attempted some fixes. Ever since my first fix (updating mednafen-09x.cfg), the picture is no longer stretching, and appears to flicker a bit. I've also never been able to fix my audio issue, after trying almost all the suggestions I've read.

Here's my mednafen.log: pastebin.com/CHAasAd2
Here's my `aplay -l`: pastebin.com/Wz9EwwuM
Here's my latest ADDON_CMD: pastebin.com/nRR55Li1

The box is an Acer AspireRevo AR1600. I've tried setting the sound.driver to default, alsa, and sdl; I've also tried setting the sound.device to a few things. All to no avail. Any ideas? Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks.

Just an update, I got the sound to work using the asound.conf found in this post: openelec.tv/forum/19-feature-suggestions...it=20&start=20#25401

The video still isn't stretching anymore, though. Here's an updated log file: pastebin.com/XyCNVAgv

...and now it's stretching after changing the nes.stretch from 1 to full. So, sorry for wasting some thread space here. Hopefully either someone else will read this and find it helpful, or someone will realize I've made a horrible mistake that I need to fix. hehe Thanks!

Is there any way to get Stella, the Atari Emulator working? I'd love to play the classics like pacman and space invaders on openelec, their controls are simplistic enough to be fun.

I have read through this thread and forum but couldn't find the answer. I have a spare Xbox 360 wireless controller that I want to use with these Game Console Emulators. Which USB receiver do I need to get to use this? And are there any instructions to set it up just for use with the Game Console Emulators?
