Hi there,

just installed 1.0.2 yesterday and I wonder :-) only need to config the boring things and all other troublemakers work out of the box. Good work so far ...
No need to config the 24p-Mode, no need for a Flash-Drive, 4GB usb Stick works well and fast.
Everything works well an smooth !!! WOW !!!

My base system is a Zotac AD-02 Fusion (4GB) with a 40" Sharp Aquos, Sound is coming from a Kenwood N8100 to a Canton Movie 5.1 DTS/AC3 System. Files a stored on Synology drives. Remote is planed by Harmony 650 for Theater, and Ipod Touch for Music. (Work well with XBMC Dharma/win7)

Today I get the Harmony and still waiting for an IR Adapter :-/
As I read before, the Ipod should work also on Openelec (XBMC remote APP) by just change the port...looking forward to this !

Is a 4GB Stick enough to Store the system AND database ? If not I wipe my SSD an use it for Openelec :-) ok ok 60GB seemed to be a bit too much, but hey ?

Congrats ! Like that !! Want to try to use it also for TV (HD Cable) but it should work good an must have a very good woman acceptance factor before I spend money for an USB-Receiver (Recording TV-Series etc.) Does anyone try this ?
That will be a dream for me...everything over the Openelec just controlled with the harmony !

One Problem: The Config I use for Network was DHCP yesterday. Today I restart and get an Error that there is no connection. So I first restart the Router and HEPP here it is again an well connected. I wonder and give him a Static IP, maybe here is a lease time problem or something !
Mhhhh ... somebody same problems ?

Keep on going friends, regards vom Germany, Karlsruhe

Patrick

Hi Patrick, good to hear you're enjoying your setup!
About the 4 gig stick, if you only have your Library and system on it, it will be enough for a while. OpenELEC will store info and thumbnail files of all your movies and music files on it, but to fill 4gb you'll need to have a large collection of those! But libraries and the database can also be external on your NAS if you want to play it save. Tutorials for this are on the site.
A thank you is nice, but a donation is more needed ;)
Thanks in advance!!

Hi Therio,

ya I read that before, and i will try to activate mysql on the Synology. should be no problem but i hope it will be quick enough...and it should be pretty cool when i get my second zotac with openelec on it so they use the same base !!!

I only use the database for my films ! How many filminfo can i have local with a 4gb stick ?
my music-collection is too big an there is noo need to get *.jpg etc...

but for the films it is pretty cool to have a fanart etc...and my wife loves it :-)

Regards,

Patrick

Don't know exact how much space 1 movie will take with fanart and info, but if you're going to activate the mysql option, I would recommend also to make the library of fanart external (to be sure).

Hi,

I have a look at my storage .... 250-400KB for each film which means I don´t need to hurry up getting work SQL on Syno ! First I have to make a 1:1 copy of ALL films the last 10 years :woohoo:

cool

Hi,

the problem is in our dharma builds "dds fanart" is enabled per default, which produces lot bigger thumbnails... this is disabled on our eden builds, because there is no need anymore for dds... you can disable dds fanart via advancedsettings.xml but then the fanart loading is slower with xbmc-dharma.
