Hi,
I am considering the move from xbmcfreak to openelec. I make extensive use of lftp and screen to download from my seedbox.

What kind of support for downloading over sftp will I find on openelec?

Many thanks.

There is not this two programs inside oe. But it can be easily compiled. I'm using screen too.
ultraman == vpeter
Spotify build instructions
my Opera web browser addon (not for RPi)
Sundtek and HDHomeRun DVB driver addons
TBS, media_build, s2-liplianin unofficial images

Thanks.
Should I be following this guide?
openelec.tv/forum/20-development-discuss...on-on-mumudvb-sample

Or is there a simpler way to compile and add the programs?

I don't understand your question completely but openelec is accesible with eg filezilla. Use sftp://192.168.0.xx and root=login, openelec=password. Port used is 22. Importantly, enable ssh during the installation process when asked! Does this help you?

What I need to be able to do is download from my seedbox to my media centre. I've been using lftp for the last few years. A command line utility that I would leave running within 'screen'.
I noticed an addon called 'jdownloader'. Maybe that would work?

Is there any reason why you run screen with lftp?

I'm not trying to be smart, just curious.

lftp is great, as it has a queue function and runs in the background when you exit. You can restart it at any time and check the queue. I found this post because I was looking how to install lftp on my openelec pi.

Screen is also incredibly useful but in this case I don't see the advantage and half the time I forget to exit a screen session and have a few floating around doing nothing.

Thank you so much. Sorry for disappearing for a few months. v3 took me out of hiding! And your binaries still work great. I created a folder in storage (/storage/bin), dumped files in there, chmod'ed them and added folder to path. All good.

I love lftp, and I also like to be able to jump back into a screen and see how a download is progressing without having to call it back. I also find I often have a couple of screens running, one DL into my Film folder and the other to TV. I know all of this can be done from within lftp and backgrounded whilst I swap between folders but I just find the workflow with screen that much more fluid.

p.s. sorry for the long time to reply!

I confirm that the lftp 32 bit binary work like a charm on 3.0.3. However, today I updated to 3.0.4 and it no longer works. There is a missing shared object:
lftp_32bit: error while loading shared libraries: libnettle.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or director
Do the binaries have to be rebuilt with the new version of openelec and is it something that I easily can do by myself? Or is the problem with libnettle missing more serious?

I'm going to ping @ultraman - who is the man when it comes to this. I would very much like to be able to continue using lftp.

This binary should work with openelec 3.0.5 again (nettle library is build as shared again).
