Until I have time to fix this error, use the following workaround:

Instead of this command in the instruction:
git pull openelec_spotyxbmc2 master

do this command:
git pull -Xours openelec_spotyxbmc2 master

When I have fixed the error, this post will be updated.

Hi.. Is it possible to build a new spotyxbmc on a older stable source. I compiled a build last night and dvd playback wont work in that so is it possible to "go back" to a 2 week old source and build a new?

Hi.. Is it possible to build a new spotyxbmc on a older stable source.
In the instructions, after this command:
cd OpenELEC.tv

perform one extra command to jump-back in time to your desired, older OpenELEC source:

git checkout -b myoldbuild xxxxxxxxxx

replace xxxxxxxxxx with the SHA of any commit. You find a SHA for every commit (a commit is a source code change). SHA is the letters/numbers found above "Browse Code" if you look on this page. If you want to build a two weeks older build, you will probably need to press the "Older" button a few times at the bottom of the page to find a SHA that is old enough. Basically, you can build any revision of OpenELEC that you want. Just "git checkout (paste the SHA number of an old commit)". There is even a great little copy-to-clipboard button on the webpage if you hover with the mouse a little bit to the left of the number. Sometimes it is trouble for the compile script to download old software versions from the internet servers. Dependency software have sometimes been removed...

After this extra "git checkout" command, you just continue the instructions as usual with "Get the spotyxbmc2 feature" commands to add the spotify stuff as usual. Because the last update to the spotyxbmc source for OpenELEC was on 05 April, there are some additional command tweaks that are needed if you want to compile a build that is older than that. Let me know if needed to build older than 06 April and I can write how-to...

I have an issue with my build and a script which uses the MyMusic18.db library, I've asked this on XBMC forums, but it might be an OpenELEC issue, so here's a copy:

Hi all, I have a problem with an OpenELEC build I've made with the tutorial from Tompen.

Here the situation. Several skins use randomitems.py - a script used to show/play random/featured items from the library.

In my case, I get a popup saying there was an error with this script.

In the debug logs, i can find this error:
09:50:56 T:140435011917568 ERROR: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/storage/.xbmc/addons/script.randomitems/RandomItems.py", line 389, in <module>
Main()
File "/storage/.xbmc/addons/script.randomitems/RandomItems.py", line 80, in __init__
self._fetch_album_info()
File "/storage/.xbmc/addons/script.randomitems/RandomItems.py", line 257, in _fetch_album_info
path = 'XBMC.RunScript(' + __addonid__ + ',albumid=' + str(item) + ')'
KeyError: ('albumid',)
09:50:56 T:140435011917568 INFO: -->End of Python script error report<--

I've asked ronie - author of the script i believe. He pointed out that probably the albums shown in my Music library (the starred albums on spotify!) don't have an ID.

And this seems to be the case: in MyMusic19.db, no albums are shown, the table is empty.

The popup annoys me, but I don't want to give up Spotify either ;)

Can anyone help? Are Spotify starred albums supposed to be in the MyMusic database?

Quick question: I have a working beta3 build, how can I build a beta4 version? Simply repeat all the steps?

With spotyxbmc2 the starred albums are not added to the xbmc MyMusic database. They are displayed together with items from the xbmc MyMusic database so that local content from your MyMusic database and the spotify starred items are sharing the same GUI. Idea was: It does not matter if albums are mp3 that you have locally, or remote albums that you have starred in spotify, they are displayed next to eachother. The same with search, when you search for music you search both locally in the MyMusic database and also in spotify. Both the local and remote results are shown as search results.

With spotyxbmc1 that was developed by akezeke a few years ago spotify starred albums was not used at all, but the user could search spotify albums and add them to the MyMusic database. But this concept is not used at all today.

Maybe the script error is caused because you do not have any (local) albums at all in the xbmc music database.. Just an idea.

I guess the best place to ask this is the spotyxbmc thread in the xbmc forum. Or, if confirmed to be a bug, open a spotyxbmc2 issue at Github.

I thought about this as well, but same thing happens when local music files are present in the library. :huh:

You can repeat all steps, or use the procedure in this post

To manually update your existing installation, the procedure is the same as before however you must also copy KERNEL.md5 and SYSTEM.md5 to the update folder/share together with KERNEL and SYSTEM files. OpenELEC now uses KERNEL.md5 and SYSTEM.md5 to check the integrity of the KERNEL and SYSTEM files before the update can start.

Ehm, where can I find the md5 files?

/edit:
Never mind, they are located inside the archive file which is stored in the target folder. The two md5 files, combined with the KERNEL en SYSTEM in /target are needed.

*sigh*

In beta4, there is a ffmpeg codec used which I believe is the cause for DVD menu's not working anymore on my Asrock.

Unfortunately, I don't have the md5 files from my previous beta3 build anymore, I do have the KERNEL AND SYSTEM.

ANY ideas how to create md5 files from KERNEL and SYSTEM from beta3?

copy the SYSTEM and KERNEL files to /storage/.update, then run this command from the same folder
md5sum KERNEL > KERNEL.md5
md5sum SYSTEM > SYSTEM.md5
