Hoping somebody can help I have a smb folder attached and it scraped my videos but when I try & play them I just get a spinning circle saying working ?? These have worked on raspbmc but cant get it to work with the openelec build (r11440.img) I have a 4GB class 10 SD card with a fresh installation on.

It is connected to Onkyo amp using HDMI with 5.1 sound setup (DTS etc..) & a wired network. video files are stored on a NAS (Livebook) and I am connected to this via SMB shares. I have noticed its very sluggish going through the movies menu (most in HD) and doesn't pick up cover art or does and then when I am scrolling through it loses it. I did get it to pay a non HD movie but started buffering and then crashed.

Hope somebody can help

Just wondering, i'm using this one - sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/openelec-rpi/

I saw them but not able to use them as using windows and cant seem to make an image file from them in windows even tried using a virtual pc but couldn't get it to see my sd card reader on my my mac using virtualbox. I have also tried the pre-built images from this site and got the same problem as well

where as raspbmc plays videos no problem but get problems with cover art and disconnection from the network

PS: you bought a RPi without any linux knowledge? You do understand it is a development platform right?

Your best bet would be to use the openelec official builds, using the VM you have to allow it access to your usb ports or sd card reader on the host machine before you boot the VM.
