i'm looking to learn how to make a openelec image that will work on my box however i don't just want to use someone elses work i would like to learn how to make it for myself. What i would like to do to start with is the change the drivers for it to work on my box and then i can start to mess about with other stuff on it. if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be amazing as i can find how to download and complie openelec but i can't seam to find out how to change the drivers for other boxes.

Usually you don't change drivers, but you use a custom kernel that contains the needed drivers already, or you apply patches to this kernel.

No, I don't know the hardware that you use and even if I would have to investigate myself. I prefer to use hardware that is already supported and I am just fine that I can add my small changes.

See my first post. Find your kernel sources and change this file accordingly: github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/blob/master/packages/linux/package.mk
