Hello all,

New to the community here. I'm taking delivery of my Zotac ID80 today and I'm very much looking forward to using XBMC again (haven't used it since my original XBOX).

Would you please suggest the best/most appropriate build to put on the ID80 when it arrives. The most recent news item on the sites main page says that the new Atom/520 pairing is already supported. Do the ION builds have everything I need, or is the 520 not considered an ION and I need to go with a Generic build?

I'm hoping to be able to use a x64 build as i'm putting 4GB of ram in the ID80.

Thanks so much! I'm starting this project tonight...wish me luck!

I'm working on this tonight actually. I"ll tell you right away you don't need 4GB as I am barely utilizing 300MB (I have 2GB installed). Anyway, I just guessed and went with the ION build. I had to manually add the asound.conf file from one of the samples, but it's making noise. Don't have this plugged into my sound system so can only test 2.0 at the moment.

I'm having trouble with smb shares though, which has been frustrating. Not sure if it is related to my build choice or what exactly. I too have been using xbmc since the xbox 1 days, but have been using it on other systems as well.

Let me know how your night goes...

Once you get it up and running, can you tell me if you experience jitter while playing HD or SD content? I have a Shuttle X35GT which has jitter issues that apparently is an ION problem. I am curious if this new box has those same issues.

I will definitely let you all know how my build goes. ZBox arrival was delayed by a day and I discovered tonight that I mistakenly ordered the wrong type of RAM. So I won't actually be able to begin this project until the weekend.

Someone did suggest that the ION builds are appropriate for the ID80 Zbox. So I've prepped my install USB thumb drive with the Eden 9700 x64 build. Is that what you started working with Maverick? What functionality does asound.conf add that wasn't present with your base install?

Well, I'm mostly up and rolling. Haven't had a whole lot of time to "play" yet because of needing sleep. Tested a couple 1080p movies and they worked flawlessly but only ran for a handful of seconds. Watched a 720p TV show and went to sleep.

I actually wasn't able to get sound working on the nightly builds, couldn't find a combination that worked in the audio setup.

My audio.conf looked like this, which I had to add, it was not present in Configfiles:
pcm.!default hdmi:NVidia
pcm:iec958 hdmi:NVidia

And then my setup in the System->Audio Output settings were of this nature:
Audio output = hdmi
Speaker configuration = 2.0
boost volume: check
ac3: none
dts: none
Audio output device = hda nvidia hdmi
Passthrough output device = hda nvidia hdmi

I just have it plugged directly into a TV right now. If you are plugging it into an AV Receiver, adjust the "upper" settings as needed, ex. 2.0/5.1/7.1 and then AC3/DTS.

The tricky part was getting an Audio output device and Passthrough output device that worked. These 2 options were not available in the nightly builds and I tried painstaking "guessing" combinations for them in the current nightly to no avail. I do know I had AC3/DTS enabled at first and I wouldn't get any errors or sound on my DTS streams. Had to disable it so it downmuxed it for my device.

hi Maverick0984, please be aware there is an ongoing issue with the nightly builds and audio, please see this thread:-

www.openelec.tv/forum/47-development-bui...ks?limit=20&start=20

basically any nightly older than r9469 wont work as far as audio is concerned, so in short you issue might not be to do with the id80 and more to do with this problem.

im running an id41 and audio is def stuffed up with > r9469

edit - oh yeah one more thing if the audio is anything like the id41 then you will need to follow this guide:-
