Hey guys,

I wrote a tutorial a little while back on how to triple boot Windows 7, Linux & OpenELEC - I thought I'd share that here. It can be found at http://blog.jordanhopfner.com/2013/01/10/triple-boot-windows-7-linux-openelec/. It's fairly in-depth with screenshots throughout the whole process.

If one of the mods wouldn't mind moving this to the guides section, it would be appreciated. Hope it helps somebody!

Please note that Linux Mint operates differently in using partitions from, for example, Ubuntu.
sudo mv KERNEL /media/YOURUSERNAMEHERE/OE_SYSTEM
Linux Mint uses usernames as an extra subfolder, where Ubuntu does not do this.

Ubuntu would require only this path:
sudo mv KERNEL /media/OE_SYSTEM
Therefore, your topic title is a bit misleading.

I fail to see how the topic title is misleading. Linux Mint is a Linux distribution, is it not? Anyway, I did not not know that and I've added a note with the commands for Ubuntu, thank you for pointing that out.

Of course, Linx Mint is a Linux distribution. But that doesn't mean it works exactly like all other the Linux distributions. If I were to follow your tutorial in my Ubuntu (=Linux) setup, things would simply not work. Because not all Linux distributions follow the same rules.

I made my own triple and also quadruple boot (WinXP / Ubuntu / OE Eden / OE Frodo) test setup. Your tutorial will help lots of people I'm sure. But I know that things simply work a little bit different in Ubuntu Linux where it comes to locally mounted shares. That's all.

Great tutorial, well done! My only question is why would you want to run Windows and Linux alongside OE? The reason I use OE is to make my HTPC and appliance for running only Kodi. I guess maybe some people may want to be able to boot into Windows to game or be able to run some other apps?

If I learned anything from my tenure as a forum moderator, it's that some folk just like doing things the hard way

On the first day I installed mythbuntu onto my HTPC machines and saw that it was good. I left windows on them in case I didn't like them as HTPCs and wanted to sell them again, having licensed windows seemed a selling point. On the second day I added XBMC to the mythbuntu installs and saw that it too was good. On the third day I decided I wanted to try Openelec but still have a safety net to what I knew worked (plus the opporunity to run mythfrontend occasionally). I saw that it was good.

So by the fourth day they could triple boot, and since then I rested and have been too lazy to properly repurpose them to openelec.

Here a very good reason:
On a work laptop computer, I'd rather boot quickly to a mediacenter if I am traveling and decide to watch a movie.
Far better than boot Windows, log in, and launch Kodi.
