Hey,

I've messed up my setup completely :/ I was updating from RC4 to RC5 and.... downloaded wrong package! (ION instead of Fusion)

Now my OE obviously won't boot at all. And here's the question:
Can I install OE without formatting harddrive, so I won't lose configuration?

Lol... been there, done that... But yes it it fixable. You need to boot into a live CD (eg xubuntu), mount the OE system partition (contains the files KERNEL + SYSTEM) and over write those files with the ones from the /target/ directory contained in the zip file of the build you want to install. From memory this needs to be done as root.

Latest installer has an option to just overwrite KERNEL/SYSTEM files on System partition. Just select "Custom Install of OpenELEC" and it should work. But it was not very much tested.

I also want to say thanks for adding that option to the installer. I've already used it a few times. Very useful when the update procedure fails, which seems to happen to me quite a lot lately.
