TOPIC: 8.0.4 install - "Missing OS", but worked on 7.0.1

8.0.4 install - "Missing OS", but worked on 7.0.1 3 months 1 week ago #1

I have been using OpenElec on my AMD Fusion based Foxconn Nano PC for a couple of years now. Have been using 5.0 for awhile, then tried to upgrade to 8.0.4 this weekend. Everything I tried ended up with the same error message after USB drive install - "OS missing" message. I eventually went back to the 5.0 image and it worked, then tried 7.0.1 image and it also worked. Then I tried the 8.0.4 image again and same thing - "OS missing" message. Any clue what could be causing this?

Thanks

I have similar problems with OE 8.x.x on my HTPC, also based on Athlon 5350 AM1 CPU and Asrock AM1H-ITX board
After OE installs, I dont see any boot device in BIOS.

Hi all
I've a NUC2820, was on openelec 6.0.x. installed on a ssd and tried to install 8.0.4. No luck, also updated bios, but that did not do the trick either. I've installed 7.0.1, that worked, back again to 8.0.4 and no luck. Started to think that maybe the image file is the problem. So I've downloaded the 8.0.1. version, that not even started to install, always froze. Get the next one, the 8.0.2. image file, installed it and it worked, started normally with uefi boot. The next thing was to update to 8.0.4. and it did without any problem. My best bet is that the 8.0.4. image file has a bug.

hi
The same for me with E8000 board of solidRun
OE7 was working, LE8 is working
(but honestly I prefer to use OE than LE ... that's why it could be nice to solve it)
Thanks in advance
JP

I had the same issue. Must be something with the update file

I ended up going to libreelec.tv/2017/02/libreelec-krypton-v8-0-0-release/ downloaded their build it is the same but different name and it worked on the first try.

Same problem. Where did you find the 8.0.2 version? I'd like to try your workaround but can't find the file.

Nevermind, I found it.

Thanks for the solution. 8.0.2 to 8.0.4 worked great on my new Liva Z.

Hey bbordua, where did you find the 8.0.2 download link? I'm having that same 'missing OS' issue with 8.0.4, but I can't seem to find the 8.0.2 anywhere
