Hi,

which graphics card would you guys suggest for building an DTS-Master capable openELEC system? As far as I have understood, none of the AMD cards has driver support for DTS-HD when running with Linux.

So, which Nvidia card do you recommend then? Or maybe integrated IvyBridge or SandyBridge graphics?

I have a GT430 and it rocks. Definitely get it if you have a 3DTV and use Windows occasionally to playback 3D blurays.

Okay. And an i3-2120T on a Gigabyte ga-p67a-b3-d3 should be sufficient for the GT430?

Another option would be a Zotac ID80 with the new Atom chip and the Nvidia GT520M. With that one I could use 64bit builds and not only the generic builds like for the GT430 / SandyBridge combination.

Which combination is better? I have to say that I also watch a lot of 1080i stuff, so I need a system that can do a good de-interlacing.

I have that exact card also, passively cooled and thus silent. TrueHD and DTS MA are now working for me perfectly, using the GT430 and an old E8400 Shuttle that I had laying around. Vic has a ID41 and I am tempted to get one of those for another room. The ID80 looks like a good choice also but not sure which one would be better. Vic suggested the 41 and I am leaning towards that.

Tried the latest generic build. Still no HD bitstreaming audio on my ION3D.
Also with these builds I have problems shutting down.

Although it's using the ION2 chipset like the boxes from Zotac, which as I understand do work, I beginning to believe that ASRock disabled (DRM protected) the option to bitstream audio other than DTS and Dolby Digital.

Is there somebody with the same HTPC as me that can confirm my findings?

Thanks for compiling this ERICAB! I've been having fun listening to some of my blu-ray concert rips on my Xtreamer Ultra 2. Thank you for putting in the time and work to compile against the Master.

Tested only with the ion AE builds.
The HD passtrough worked fine.
Had problems with bluray iso-s and folders and some other network issues.
Went back to beta 3.

Is this with your ION3d or the Xtreamer Ultra?

With Ion3d + Denon amp, on Xtreamer not tested.

Do you have a custom .asoundrc configuration or is it auto-detected?

Nothing changed in the source code.
As I wrote, does not play bluray iso and had some network issues, I'm storing the database in mysql and the thumbs on NAS.

At least I know it could work. So it's probably an OpenElec configuration issue or my hardware setup/receiver.
