So I got this board few days ago and been playing round with openelec only reason is because I don't want to pay MS any money :P ! Anyways for the life of me I can't seem to get the audio through HDMI working. I've tried every built (Stable - PVR B2). So I am now using XMBC + Ubuntu Build and the audio works fine after install but it takes too long to boot (like how Openelec boots) and wanna stay with it.

So if you have this board and have sound working through HDMI please give me direction on how to get this working. I have some or limited knowledge with xbmc but not to where i can modify files or the asound.confi (Btw that file is not in the <openelec\config> folder).

Any help would be great...btw this board is on sales from fry's for 64$ after rebate so not bad.

Thanks

/storage/.config/asound.conf will not exist unless you create it. SSH into the box and post the output of "aplay -L" and "aplay -l" commands

This is what I did to get the sound working while playback (menu sound still does not work).

Go to XBMC GUI - Audio settings and set both (normal audio device and pass-through device) on custom with the following entry plughw:0,3

Thats it. Restart is probably necessary.
Tell me if it works for you.

I am using a Asus 35M1 board with an AMD E350.

@chewitt: any idea why my menu sound is still not working? I did not create a asound.conf file at all.
