Hi guys,
After spending some time looking for an answer here - without success - I managed to setup my OpenELEC to work with VyprVPN and I figured I'd share my recipe here.
Please note that I'm gonna assume that you can reach your OpenELEC shared folders.

* Create a folder somewhere on your PC
* Download the appropriate certificate from GoldenFrog here www.goldenfrog.com/downloads/ca.vyprvpn.com.crt and save it to the folder you just created
* In the same folder, create a file called "pass.txt" with two lines - your username on the first line and your password on the second.
* Still in the same folder, create a file called vyprvpn.config with the following content (change the "Host" line to whatever host you wish to connect to)
[global]
Name = vyprvpn

[provider_openvpn]
Type = openvpn
Name = vyprvpn
Host = dk1.vpn.goldenfrog.com
OpenVPN.CACert = /storage/.config/vpn-config/ca.vyprvpn.com.crt
Domain = vpn
advanced = 1
OpenVPN.CompLZO = 1
OpenVPN.AuthUserPass = /storage/.config/vpn-config/pass.txt
* Open your OpenELEC "Configfiles" shared folder. If there is already a "vpn-config" folder there, open it, otherwise create it.
* copy the three files (certificate,vypervpn.config and pass.txt) to the "vpn-config" folder

If I didn't make mistakes you should see your new connection in the OpenELEC>Connections menu, and you should be able to connect.

If you get errors when connecting, try SSHing to your OpenELEC and entering this command:
tail /var/log/messages
The output from that should be enough to tell you where the problem is - most likely you'll have to check that all the files are in the right place and that the user/password pair is correct.

Hope this helps someone.

Thank you sooooo much for this - I have been struggling with this for ages.
In case it is helpful, I am running on Private Internet Access VPN provider and this is the contents of the config file that I created to use the Netherlands access point:

[global]
Name = Netherlands

[provider_openvpn]
Type = openvpn
Name = Netherlands
Host = nl.privateinternetaccess.com
OpenVPN.CACert = /storage/.config/vpn-config/ca.crt
Domain = vpn
advanced = 1
OpenVPN.CompLZO = 1
OpenVPN.AuthUserPass = /storage/.config/vpn-config/pass.txt

I created a separate file (like Toronto.config) for each connection and took the hosts for each one from the regional gateways listed here

Thanks again - the openelec config instructions are not updated yet so this was a lifesaver

Hi,

I have followed your instructions, but i'm stuck. BEGINNER

I use HideMyAss who offer an OpenVPN service. However I'm not sure what I should put under HOST. I can see my new connection in Openelec, but clearly it does not work.

[global]
Name = Sweden

[provider_openvpn]
Type = openvpn
Name = Sweden
Host = ???????????
OpenVPN.CACert = /storage/.config/vpn-config/ca.crt
Domain = vpn
advanced = 1
OpenVPN.CompLZO = 1
OpenVPN.AuthUserPass = /storage/.config/vpn-config/pass.txt

I cant seem to find any.com files just ip addresses.

Many thanks

I got it to work it was the wrong type of account on Vyrpvpn Basic instead of premium that offers openvpn service. In any case I was disappointed because none of the DR1 DR2 etc channels worked even with vpn working fine. Any addons that let you see live DanishTV ?

Use system.d that where's it's designed for. Don't forget to create the .power file (posted in the same thread) if you use suspend.
