Setup: OpeneELEC/Kodi latest version
Wired network
Win7 PC for media storage with Samba shares.
Problem:
Every time I boot up my OpenELEC machine & try to access shares it can't do so. Media not found & if I try a library update it briefly flashes "scanning" then that disappears.
The only thing that gets it going again is to restart the Server service on the Win7 machine (or reboot of course).
I've read elsewhere that Samba access issues can be due to the master browser election process but, the fact that a server service restart solves it would seem to indicate this isn't the case. My thinking on that is that on restart a new election takes place which can take a while.
I have set policy on the Win7 machine to make it master browser so it should always be master browser anyway & if it wasn't for the need to restart the server service it would be permanently running.
Any thoughts?

I should say that none of the other (Windows) machines on the network have a problem accessing the same shares, just the OpenELEC box.

in addition to sharing you also need to set security permissions for the folder

Permissions are set. After a server restart the shares are accessible.

did you try to set security permissions to "everyone" and with "full control" ?

Okay - I have noticed a similar problem - not too sure if it's related.
I have a NAS running Openmediavault. If I do a poweroff, when restarting it cannot access my NAS shares, I reboot and sometimes it works - sometimes multiple reboots solves the problem.
Windows Clients have no problems connecting to the NAS, so it's definitely the OE Box.
There are No issues when I Suspend/Resume though. only with power off/on

Sorry to revive an old thread but this problem still persists. I've been putting up with it as it could be worked around by rebooting the Windows machine, but recently rebooting doesn't always work. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times.
The Windows machine is Master Browser on my Workgroup
