I'm setting up an OpenELEC machine as my central HTPC, directly connected to my TV/receiver, but I also want it to serve as a host for streaming the occasional content to my laptop/iPad.

After some quick testing, it seems that the built-in DNLA server works ok (with the exception of no transcoding). But there are some minor things that I can't figure out.

For example;

When listing TV show names, it lists both the show name, plus the season and episode number then the episode name. This is fine if all your episodes are displayed in the one directory, but superfluous if they are already organised by folder. On clients with small screens (eg, iPhone), it's actually more trouble than it is worth.

Also, the image displayed for TV Shows seems to vary from either banner to poster, to no artwork at all. My movies all show up correctly, but not TV Shows. Yet they all appear fine in XBMC itself.

I figure I might need to make some minor config changes. But I can't find any config files, and googling mostly gives me info on using XBMC as a DLNA client rather than a server.

Can someone point me to some documentation?

there really isn't any config when using Upnp.

I assume you have added your main htpc as a upnp source on your client htpc?

Do you do a library scan after this?

I am not sure about Eden but you should be able to use "artwork downloader" addon to grab posters and banners for everything (that are available for your series of course)
