Hi,

I am trying to setup a vpn connection on Openelec 8.0.2. Unfortunately openvpn will create this log messages:

I have /dev/net/tun, but no tap.

Is openvpn officially supported with v8.0.2?

Thanks,
Daniel

ps: I am using Raspberry Pi2 if it matters.

Hi all,

I had encountered the same issue with OpenELEC 8.0.4. This is how I solved it:
1. ssh to your OpenELEC device as root : ssh xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa -l root (default password is openelec). If ssh fails, you need to enable ssh in the Openelec settings.
2. edit or create an autostart.sh file:
nano /storage/.config/autostart.sh
3. add the following script if this file was not existing:
#!/bin/sh
if [ -e /dev/net/tun ]
then
echo "device /dev/net/tun already created, continuing..."
else
echo "device /dev/net/tun does not exist, creating..."
mkdir -p /dev/net
mknod /dev/net/tun c 10 200
chmod 600 /dev/net/tun
echo "file created, continuing"
fi

4. change execution rights:
chmod a+x /storage/.config/autostart.sh
5. reboot
The administrator has disabled public write access.
