Hi all

First of all i want to thank the developers for a nice lightweight system, witch works perfect on my Revo 3700.

In the beginning i had trouble getting the sound to work, but i found a nice solution with custom sound setting choosing plughw:1,7...

Next trouble was i wanted to see IPTV, but the m3u file did not work out in this version =(

I found out that there was a modified version of openelec with PVR, installed and after some configuration it all worked out for me.

Everything is working, streaming movies/music/pictures form NAS, watching IPTV, but i am missing one important thing and that is EPG!!

I subscribe to a xmltv file onine, that is containing all my channels, but i cant figure out how to get it working?

I have added the url to the tveadend config page, ut what now?

If i try to run the below script nothing happens !
root ~/.xbmc/addons/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/bin # tv_grab_file --configure
Illegal option --
unknown option: -
Usage: tv_grab_file: [--description] [--version] [--capabilities]

Any help is appreciated =)

TIA Oz

Hi,

You don't have to configure tv_grab_file through console. Did you configure it in tvheadend service addon settings. There you have an option to set xmltv source type to file or web source and also setup file or web location.

Then you just open tvheadend web interface in a browser on other computer with link: http://openelec_IP:9981 and select configuration tab, XMLTV tab and Save to start grabbing.

I hope you will manage to get it working.

Hi Gujs

Thx m8, damn simple.
The only thing i overlooked was "save configuration" and chose the right XMLTV source to the right channel.

It seems to grab and inject the EPG data, but it is not visible on my TV jet....
Will look at it tonight maybe i am overlooking something.
Nov 01 06:24:00 xmltv: Grabbing "tv_grab_file is a simple grabber that just read the local or web XMLTV formated file" using command "/storage/.xbmc/addons/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/bin/tv_grab_file"

Nov 01 06:24:17 xmltv: /storage/.xbmc/addons/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/bin/tv_grab_file: Parsing completed. XML contained 46 channels, 17285 events, 7474 new events injected in EPG

No. Tvheadend should remember that.

Strange when i open the WEB GUI (openelec_IP:9981 )and open the configuration tab and choose channels.
The XMLTV source is empty again, it seems like Tvheadend is not saving the settings =(

Any suggestion?

Did you hit save channels button after you configured channels?

Hi. Can you try to connect to your openelec box with ssh and check if you have any files in this forlder:
ls /storage/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/xmltv/channels/

This folder contains all channels which are detected from your xmltv file. Files should be named ans channel names. You can open them with vi editor to verify them if needed.

Next thing you should check is the /storage/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/channels/ folder which contains the channel mappings. If you open one file it should have structure lake that:
cat /storage/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/channels/55
{
	"name": "History Channel",
	"xmltv-channel": "HISTORYCH",
	"icon": "http://cdn1.siol.tv/logo/93x78/historych.png",
	"tags": [
	],
	"dvr_extra_time_pre": 0,
	"dvr_extra_time_post": 0,
	"channel_number": 64
}

You have to look for the xmltv-channel part of the configuration. If you don't have anything inside it means it didn't save it.

You can enable debug mode in web interface of tvheadend and maybe you will get more log details when you will edit and save channels. You can enable debug with click on the "wheel settings" icon in the right bottom corner of web interface.

My channels are stored in a deeper location than you have suggested, could that be why it will not store the XMLTV information?
root ~/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/xmltv/channels/www.ontv.dk/tv # ls -all
total 192
drwx--S---    2 root     root          4096 Nov  3 21:06 .
drwx--S---    3 root     root          4096 Nov  1 05:18 ..
-rwx------    1 root     root            29 Nov  3 21:06 1
-rwx------    1 root     root            39 Nov  3 21:06 10
....

when i view e.g. 10 it is empty except the channels name, which must mean no epg data has been stored.. But why not? Debug mode dos not give me any information....

These files are not channel configurations files. They are xmltv configuration files for every channel which is found in xmltv epg.

Configuration files should be in this folder:
ls /storage/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/channels/

If you don't have them here than you didn't configure tvheadend correctly. Maybe it would be better to delete the whole folder /storage/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/ and try it again. But if you delete it you have to reboot first and then reconfigure.

They are my mistake, and they look like you file...
root ~/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/channels # ls
-all
total 136
drwx------    2 root     root          4096 Nov  3 22:49 .
drwxr-xr-x    8 root     root          4096 Oct 30 20:10 ..
-rwx------    1 root     root           233 Nov  3 22:48 1
-rwx------    1 root     root           237 Nov  3 22:48 10
...
{
        "name": "Animal Planet",
        "xmltv-channel": "www.ontv.dk/tv/10101",
        "icon": "http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/hires/aa/animal_planet_us.png",
        "tags": [
        ],
        "dvr_extra_time_pre": 0,
        "dvr_extra_time_post": 0,
        "channel_number": 1
}

But it seems like the same files at the xmltv location are empty...
root ~/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/service.multimedia.hts-tvheadend/xmltv/channels/www.ontv.dk/tv # ls -all
total 192
drwx--S---    2 root     root          4096 Nov  3 21:06 .
drwx--S---    3 root     root          4096 Nov  1 05:18 ..
-rwx------    1 root     root            29 Nov  3 21:06 1
-rwx------    1 root     root            39 Nov  3 21:06 10
....

Any suggestions?
