I understand

We are excited to announce that OpenELEC has won the CH Open Source Award 2014. OpenELEC was selected by the Swiss organization /ch/open from among a pool of 23 exciting projects. According to the jury for /ch/open, “The OSS Awards recognise businesses, public authorities, open source communities and individuals who have used and developed open source software in an innovative and groundbreaking way."

OpenELEC has won the CH Open Source Award 2014

OpenELEC in particular was chosen because of its highly optimized code, excellent track record in the open source community and involvement with the Raspberry Pi, and in acknowledgement of its great success with more than 200.000 currently active users, making it one of the largest single userbases for XBMC/Kodi.

We’d like to thank /ch/open and all of our users for believing in this project and helping to make it what it is today. [Swiss] German speakers among us can watch the awards ceremony here. The presentation to Stephan starts at '49:00 minutes.

I'm using OpenELEC since i was able to grab one of the rare Bay Trail-NUCs here in germany early this year and it was running flawless from the beginning, regardless is was BETA to this time. In the last 10 years using Linux it was one of the very few distros that ran out oft the box without any "gefrickel". :) Not to say that it supports any codec i tried including HD-audio and very high bitrate videos on this little cheap device. All my respect to you and all the guys who contributed to this project!
